8 Days Uganda Safari – Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Drive To Murchison Falls National Park And En Route To Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary To Track White Rhinos
Day 1 will start with you having a hearty early morning breakfast from your hotel at around 6 am. After, our expert driver-guide in a 4X4 safari car will pick you up at around 6:30 am.
Settle in comfortably and drive 310km (4-5 hours) from Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park. When this Uganda road trip, will give you a sight into the life of many local Ugandans whom you will meet along the way.
You will see these people doing their daily routine work like cultivation and you will see men and women riding bicycles with produce going to local markets to trade.
On this road trip, you will also participate in the thrilling roadside market stops in Kasana Luwero. Here you will have the chance to taste Uganda’s fresh organic fruits which will leave you wanting more due to their sweetness.
You can as well interact with locals as you dive into a real African shopping experience and have a chance to bargain for the best price.

After, drive to Nakasongola where you will en-route for Rhino trekking at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is a big opportunity for you to see one of the big 5 African game.
White Rhinos in the wild in Uganda are only found here. Upon your arrival, participate in a Rhino trekking session which will as well help you stretch your body for the remaining journey to the park. Remember it is a 3-4 drive from Kampala to the Sanctuary.
After this thrilling adventure of tracking the Rhinos, enjoy a marvelous lunch at Kabalega Dinner. From here you will then continue your journey to Murchison Falls National Park and enjoy an evening game drive.

Day 2: Enjoy A Morning Game Drive, An Afternoon Nile Boat Cruise, And Murchison Falls Hike
This day will be fruitful as you will have chances of discovering Murchison Falls park wilderness to the full gist. You will do a fascinating safari game drive and a spectacular boat cruise.
Start the day with a morning breakfast buffet at around 6 am and after get into a safari car for a captivating game drive on the northern banks of the park. This sector has a high concentration of wild animals.

After a wonderful lunch, board a thrilling boat cruise upstream of the Victoria Nile and to the bottom of the falls. During this 17-kilometer cruise, you have the opportunity of seeing Crocodiles and Hippos.
Other animals you can see along are Elephants, Water-bucks, and Uganda Kobs drinking water on the riverside. Also on the shores of the Victoria Nile, there are very many bird species you will see and include;

When you come near the bottom of the falls, you are received by a crashing roar of the Murchison Falls. This is a safe distance to watch the falls as they fall 43 meters.
On your arrival towards the bottom of the falls, you will then engage in a Murchison Falls hike (the world’s strongest waterfalls). You will witness Africa’s longest river forcing itself to pass through a 7-meter escarpment before falling 43m below.
These falls drop into the famed devil’s cauldron and form a voluminous spray marked with a crashing roar and a permanent rainbow.
When on this Murchison falls hike, be ready to enjoy the sounds of the Nile River as it hits the resistant rocks that have been there for centuries.
After, this activity, you can then return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Drive To Kibale National Park As You Explore The Enchanting Countryside Landscape
Day 3 of this Uganda tour is for transferring from the mighty Murchison Falls National Park to Kibale National Park.
This day begins with you having a morning breakfast at around 6 am so that you embark on the road trip as early as possible. This road trip will take you through the thrilling countryside of Uganda as you advance to Kibale National Park.
It takes you through various villages giving you views into the daily life of Uganda people. You get to see men and women doing their regular economic activities like gardening.
Also, you may encounter women carrying their babies on the back like monkey style as they are strapped tight on the back.
This drive from Murchison park to Kibale National Park takes about 7-8 hours covering a distance of about 320km. You will have a lunch break in one of the finest restaurants in Fort portal town before you finally proceed to Kibale National park.

Day 4: Enjoy Chimpanzee Trekking And Transfer To Queen Elizabeth National Park En Route To The Ruboni Community
Wake up early in the morning and have a fabulous breakfast at around 6:30 am which you will enjoy the melody and sounds of nature. These sounds are mostly of birds that are whistling and twittering to a new day.
After, you will advance to Kanyanchu Tourism Center in Kibale National Park to participate in Chimpanzee trekking briefing which starts at 8 am. The briefing is conducted by park rangers who will then be your guides during your Chimpanzee trekking.
When the briefing is done, groups of 8 people embark into the forest in search of man’s closest relative (chimpanzees). Kibale Forest is dense with lush flora including mature trees that have huge buttresses and climbers.

If you are a bird lover, then this is a great opportunity for you as you need to keep an open eye as this forest is home to a variety of Impressive bird species.

Apart from Chimpanzees, Kibale National Park holds other 12 Primate species like the endangered Red Colobus Monkeys. This park has the highest of Red-Colobus Monkeys.

Upon spotting the habituated Common Chimpanzees, you can come closer not exceeding 7 meters to take pictures. During this time, the apes will be eating fruits, swinging in trees, socializing, mating, and making hooting calls.
This will give you unforgettable memories full of excitement. You are given 1 full valid hour to be with the Chimpanzees and you can take pictures as many as you want.
After this thrilling activity which usually lasts between 2-5 hours, get back to Kanyanchu Visitors to receive a trekking permit. After, get back to your safari guide and drive back to your lodge for a fabulous lunch.
Later after relaxing for a small time, check out of your lodge and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This journey is a distance of 157km which is about a 2-3 hours’ drive away from Kibale.
However, along this transfer, you will pass via the Ruboni community center. Here, you will see local women selling an assortment of art and craft materials.
Feel free to buy a souvenir from here as this way you would have played a role in supporting the local communities.
The money you use to purchase the items is used by the local people to support their families and livelihoods. If you are willing, you can as well participate in learning how to weave products and you may make the exact ones that are on display.
Afterward, advance with your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park with superb sights of the Rwenzori ranges. You will then arrive at your lodge late in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Enjoy A Morning Game Drive And An Afternoon Boat Cruise Along The Kazinga Channel
Have a morning breakfast at around 6 am and after encounter on a morning game drive as you will be driving through the Kasenyi plains. These plains have a wide range of animals including 4 of the big 5 animals.
Some of these are;
- Lions
- Leopards
- Cape Buffaloes
- African Bush Elephants,
- Topis and many other antelope species
This morning game drive usually lasts between 2 and 5 hours. Return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation after that unforgettable experience.
After that, you’ll be transferred to Mweya Jetty for an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel. This is the highlight of the day and the best way to explore the Kazinga Channel.
This boat tour takes you along a 40-kilometer stretch of the channel that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. It allows you to see the highest concentration of Hippos, estimated to be around 5000 individuals.
There are also many crocodiles basking on the Kazinga Channel’s shores.
If you enjoy bird watching, this boat cruise is for you because you will see several bird species during the cruise. There are several water birds to see, adding to the park’s 600 bird species.
This boat cruise also provides excellent opportunities for photography, bird watching, and game viewing.
Following this 2-hour boat ride, you’ll go on an evening game drive along the Channel track to see even more wild animals. You will then return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Enjoy The Ishasha Game Drive En Route As You Transfer To Bwindi National Park
Wake up in peace, have an early morning breakfast around 6:30 am, and board a 4X4 safari vehicle for a 2-3 hour drive through the Ishasha sector.
Take a game drive through this sector in search of tree-climbing lions. Because of these unique lions, the park has become a popular destination for many African safari adventurers who come to see these predators.
Visitors can see these lions resting in the middle of the morning, laying their bodies in between the tree branches.
After this breathtaking game drive, which usually lasts 3-4 hours, you return to the lodge for lunch, which allows you to stretch your muscles. After that, continue to Bwindi National Park, where you will arrive late in the evening.

Day 7: Do Mountain Gorilla Trekking In Bwindi National Park And Transfer To Lake Bunyonyi
Have an early morning breakfast around 6:30 a.m., which includes a variety of bites ranging from delectable tropical organic fruits to freshly baked confectioneries.
This delicious breakfast is designed to give you the energy you need to go Gorilla trekking in Bwindi National Park. You can see the Mountain Gorilla families for an hour here.
Drive from the lodge with your packed lunch to the park’s center, where you are greeted warmly by the park’s warden. He will brief you starting with the history of Gorilla conservation in the given sector and the park as a whole.
Still, in the park’s center, you can catch a glimpse of a cultural performance by the Batwa people, who will demonstrate their musical abilities. After the curtain rises, you begin your journey in search of the Gorilla family, accompanied by an armed ranger.
While trekking the apes, keep an eye out for the 350 bird species that call the park home, as well as other primate species. These include the Black-and-White Colobus Monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and different species of lizards such as the 3 Horned Chameleon and many more.
When you spot the Gorillas, you have an hour to spend with them, which is truly magical as you watch them in their natural habitat. However, remember the 7-meter rule or you may be taken away by the Gorillas’ games as they want to break the rule.

You then drive to Lake Bunyonyi to unwind after the strenuous Gorilla trekking experience. The tropical gem of the Kigezi highland will captivate you with its fascinating tranquil waters and numerous 29 islands scattered throughout the lake.
This is why it is known as the “Lake of a Thousand Islands.” Enjoy a relaxing boat ride through several islands, including Akampene Island, while on this lake.
This is known as Punishment Island, where young girls who became pregnant before marriage were abandoned to die.
However, it is additionally believed that this island was cursed by an old lady as the young people who used to live there refused to give her beer. She cursed it, and it turned upside down, killing everyone on board.
After the thrilling boat ride and the harrowing history of the lake, return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer Back To Kampala And En-Route Stop At The Equator
Wake up at around 6 am to the sweet melodies of birds that will be singing with joy as they welcome a new day. This purely brings out the reason why this lake is called Bunyonyi meaning a lake of numerous small birds.
You will hear these birds singing uniformly interjecting voices during dawn. Enjoy this moment as you get yourself a cup of coffee or tea and make a choice from the wide range of bakeries.
After, transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala which is about 420km, or Entebbe which is 470km.
When driving back to Kampala, you will pass through the rolling hills of Kabale which will amaze you, and wonder how the people manage to cultivate on these steep slopes.
You will as well see many local men riding bicycles with their produce heading to the nearby local markets. En route for lunch at Igongo Country Hotel in Mbarara and if you wish, you can enjoy a traditional buffet. This mostly consists of the Ishabwe dish which is a local delicacy in this region.
After this wonderful lunch continue your journey stopping at the Equator point in Kayabwe. When here, you will do an equator experiment where you will distinguish the Northern from the Southern hemisphere. You can as well enjoy a photo moment.
From here, continue to Entebbe International Airport, where your flight awaits you, and this will mark the end of your safari.
