15 Days Uganda Safari Tour – Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer From Kampala/ Entebbe To Gulu. Visit Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary En Route
Your driver guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala/ Entebbe at around 6:30 am and drive you to northern Uganda to Gulu town. This journey takes around 7-8 hours as you pass through astonishing landscapes.
It also takes you through bustling roadsides, markets, and various quiet rural villages. However, you will en route to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary which is home to the only 32 wild Rhinos in Uganda.
While here, you track the White Rhinos for 2 hours on foot and will have a magical close view of the creatures in their natural habitat.
As you search for the Rhinos, you will also see several wildlife like Uganda Kobs, Oribis, Bushbucks, Waterbucks, and numerous bird species. After this thrilling encounter, have a hot lunch at Kabalega Dinner.
Proceed to Gulu, and check in at your hotel for relaxation, dinner, and overnight.
The highlight of the day: Wild Rhino Tracking on Foot

Day 2: Drive From Gulu To Kidepo Valley National Park. Enjoy A Game Drive Upon Arrival
After a fabulous early breakfast at around 7 am, transfer from Gulu to Kidepo National Park. This journey is a 3-4 hour drive and you will arrive in the park on time. Check in at your lodge, have a hot lunch and relax for some time.
Later in the afternoon, embark on a game drive in the Savannah plains of Kidepo National Park. This park is a true wilderness of Africa having over 77 mammal species and some are Kidepo endemics like Cheetahs and Bat-eared Foxes.
Other Kidepo endemics are Aardwolves and Ostriches. Also, you will see numerous wild animals like;

Day 3: Morning Game Drive In Kidepo National Park And Afternoon Karamojong Community Tour
Wake up early and have a fast breakfast and afterward embark on a 3-4 hour game drive in the wilderness of Kidepo. This is a great opportunity for you to enjoy the magical sunrise over the rocky horizon and golden plains.
You will see more wildlife when you drive through the undulating Savannah of the Narus Valley in the south of the park. You will see herds of Elephants, Buffaloes, Zebras, Lions, and many Antelope species like Uganda Kobs, Elands, Oribis, etc.
Other wildlife includes Mountain Reedbucks, Hyenas, Side- striped Jackals, etc., and numerous Uganda bird species. After this encounter, you can then return to the lodge for a hot lunch and some bit of relaxation.
Later in the Afternoon, you can visit the Karamojong Village. This village is near the park near and you get to know about their exceptional way of life which is still realistic.
During this Karamojong visit, they show you their discrete housing called the ‘Manyatta”. Also, they will narrate to you about their customs and give you some entertainment from their vibrant traditional dance.

Day 4: Travel To Murchison Falls National Park. Undertake A Night Game Drive
Have a thrilling early breakfast at around 7 am and after transfer from Kidepo to Murchison park which is about 7-8 hours. During this journey, you will pass through the striking landscapes of northern Uganda and have a lunch break in Kitgum town.
After, commence to Murchison Falls park, check in your lodge, freshen up, and have a relaxation. Later in the evening at around 7 pm, embark on a night game drive. This is a great opportunity for you to see nocturnal animals like Hyenas, Lions, Leopards, and Civets.
Other nocturnal animals are Genets, Porcupines, Bush Babies, Nightjars, and grazing hippos. You will later return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Nile Launch Cruise To The Bottom OF Murchison Falls
Wake up early in the morning and have a cup of coffee at around 6 am and afterward embark on a 3-4 hour game drive.
This drive is enjoyed in the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park which has palm-dotted Savannah plains and is home to most of the park’s animals. Drive along the several game viewing tracks and look out for;

This is also a great chance for you to see Lions, Jackals Leopards, and numerous bird species.

Later in the afternoon (2 pm), aboard a 2-hour tranquil boat cruise along River Nile. It gives you clear sightings of Hippos, Crocodiles, Elephants, Buffaloes, and various water birds.
This amazing voyage takes you to the bottom of Murchison Falls (the most powerful waterfall in the world). You will wonder how a 50-meter-wide river squeezes into an 8-meter narrow gorge before dropping 45m.
During this course, it forms magical scenery with a permanent rainbow which is worth a visit. You can then return to your lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Enjoy A Nile- Lake Albert Delta Boat Cruise With Breakfast On Board And An Evening Game Drive
Enjoy a thrilling morning breakfast and after go for a 5-hour (20 km) boat cruise to the Nile Albert-delta area. This is where the Nile empties into Lake Albert and it is home to many water birds including the rare Shoebill.
Other water birds in this area are the Papyrus Gonolek, African Jacana, Kingfishers, Herons, African Fish Eagle, Saddle-Billed Stork, African Skimmer, Pelicans, etc.
This boat cruise also gives you the great opportunity to sight the incredible scenery and the everyday routines of local fishermen. These people are catching Tilapia from their wooden canoes along Lake Albert.
You also get views of the Hippos within the river, and Elephants and Crocodiles on the River shores. The highlight of this 5-hour boat cruise is a stop along the river banks for a spectacular bush breakfast served to you by a private chef.
From here, you will then return to your lodge for a hot lunch and then embark on an evening game drive. During this drive, look out for animals that are not common and that you would have missed on the first game drive.

Day 7: Visit The Top OF Murchison Falls And Transfer To Kibale National Park
After a late wonderful breakfast at 8:30 am, you will check out of the lodge and embark on the top of Murchison Falls. When here, you will get clear sightings of the River Nile (Africa’s longest river) from a different perspective.
You will then head southwards to Kibale National Park which is Africa’s primate capital. Along this transfer, you will enjoy the scenic drive along the Albertine rift valley and through the lush green countryside.
Arrive in the amazing town of Fort Portal for lunch and afterward proceed for a 1-hour drive to Kibale park. This national park boasts 13 primate species including 1,500 Chimpanzees who are our closest genetic relatives.
You will then arrive at your lodge late afternoon and retire as you await dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Morning Chimp Trekking In Kibale Forest And Afternoon Bigodi Community Village Walk
After breakfast at 6:30 am, head to Kibale park headquarters with your packed lunch for Chimpanzee trekking briefing at 8 am. When through with it, start the 2-5 hour trek in the dense flora in search of habituated Chimp community on foot.
Along the search trails, you will also see various primates and many birds of the 370 bird species of the park.
Once you spot the Chimpanzees, you can wonder how they and common to humans. This is the best opportunity to see them, groom, eat, socialize, hunt, play, or patrol.
You are only given 1 magical hour to be with them and then return to the briefing point to enjoy your packed lunch. Later in the afternoon, set out for the Bigodi community walk.
When here, you will spend some time with the local people and get to know more about their daily lives. You will visit men making local banana beer or waragi gin and the traditional healer to learn more about herbs and local medicines.
You can also visit the Bigodi Women’s Group for handcraft demonstrations. After, this thrilling encounter, return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 9: Transfer To Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy A Game Drive On Arrival
Enjoy your breakfast at leisure and after 9:30 am, transfer from Kibale park to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is a 2-3 hour transfer full of wonderful views of the snowcapped Rwenzori Mountains.
You will arrive at your accommodation for lunch and a bit of relaxation. After this hot lunch, embark on a safari game drive to explore the striking landscapes and wildlife of Queen Elizabeth park.
This park is Uganda’s most popular wildlife safari destination because of its amazing landscape. This park’s landscape boasts of tropical rain forests, moist acacia woodlands, rolling savanna plains, and sprawling grassy hills.
It also consists of twinkling crater lakes, freshwater lakes, fertile wetlands, and a lovely background of the distant Mountains of the moon.
However, this striking landscape also boasts 95 animal species and over 600 bird species. During this game drive, you will see many Elephants, Buffaloes, Waterbucks, Uganda Kobs, Oribis, Leopards, Lions, Hyenas, etc.

Enjoy an early morning breakfast at 6 am. Afterward, set off for a 3-4 hour game drive in the scenic Kasenyi plains with numerous Savannah. When on this game drive, you see various Uganda animals like;

You will see many Elephants and herds of Buffaloes along the shores of the Channel bathing and refreshing. And after this epic encounter, enjoy a short game drive along the channel track.

Day 11: Transfer To Bwindi Impenetrable NP. Enjoy An En- Route Game Drive In Ishasha Sector In Search OF Tree- Climbing Lions
Wake up for a hot energizing breakfast at 8 am and afterward set off for a 4-7 hour drive to Bwindi National Park. Along this enjoy, enjoy a short game drive in the southern Ishasha plains to see the tree-climbing Lions.
After encountering the mysterious creatures, proceed with the journey passing through the rolling hills of southwestern Uganda to Bwindi park.
Although it has a frightening name, Bwindi is a tropical rain forest paradise. This 321 km2 of untouched rain forest was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
It holds 50% (459) of the world’s surviving Mountain Gorillas (1,063), and 350 bird species including the 23 Albertine endemics. It also has 120 Uganda mammal species.
Arrive at your lodge in the evening for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 12: Gorilla Trekking In Bwindi And Transfer To Lake Bunyonyi For Relaxation
After enjoying an early breakfast at around 6:30 am, head to Bwindi National Park headquarters for a lifetime Gorilla trekking adventure. You will first report for a short briefing at 7 am so that you get allocated a Gorilla family to track.
This national park has about 19 habituated Gorilla groups and each is assigned to not more than 8 visitors. Once you are briefed, embark on a relatively challenging trek within the thick misty jungle in search of a habituated gorilla group.
Upon spotting the giant apes, you spend 1 charming hour enjoying them communicating, feeding, and grooming. Also, you get to wonder how the Silverback is big which makes it Africa’s most memorable wildlife encounter.
After this thrilling encounter, set back to the starting point to get your Gorilla trekking certificate and also get to enjoy your packed lunch. You can then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi which is about 90 minute drive.
You will pass through the outstanding terraced Kigezi highlands. Arrive at your lodge on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi for relaxation, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 13: Canoe Ride, Island Hopping, And Relaxation At Lake Bunyonyi
Have breakfast early at around 7 am as you look at the amazing scenery of Lake Bunyonyi. It is the second deepest lake in Africa (900m deep) having 29 islands and it is surrounded by the terraced rolling hills of Kigezi.
After your thrilling breakfast, board a canoe ride and start island hopping. You will explore the amazing islands on this lake and learn about the history and traditions attached to them.
Among all the islands, the most captivating is Akampene Island (Punishment Island). This was where pregnant unmarried girls were left and abandoned to die. These girls died of hunger and drowned as they tried to escape.
This act of being pregnant before marriage was shameful for the girl’s family. This practice was more popular in Southwestern Uganda but was abandoned due to the coming of the missionaries.
Retreat from the activity and spend the day resting at your lodge.

Day 14: Enjoy A Relaxed Breakfast And Transfer To Lake Mburo. Traditional Lunch Stop At Igongo Cultural Center And Evening Game Drive On Arrival
After a laze breakfast at around 9:30 am, depart from Lake Bunyonyi for Lake Mburo National Park. This journey will have you pass through the amazing Ugandan countryside, villages, banana plantations, and Mbarara town.
Have a stop at Igongo Cultural Center for a traditional lunch en route. After, you will commence your journey to Lake Mburo National Park with views of the wonderful Ankole cattle on your way to the park entrance.
Lake Mburo park offers tranquil game viewing while on nature walks, boat cruises, game drives, cycling tours, and horseback rides.
Upon arrival, check-in at your lodge before heading to encounter on a game drive in the park. When on this game drive, you will see various Savannah animals with more herbivores. These include Zebras, Impalas, Topis, Elands, Buffaloes, and Giraffes.
Big cats in this park are fewer though Leopards and Hyenas are abundant yet elusive. Retire at your booked lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After having a farewell breakfast at around 6 am, embark on a 2-hour guided walk in Lake Mburo park. This is the best way to experience the beautiful savanna sight animals up close while on foot.
You will then depart from the park for a 4-hour drive back to Kampala or Entebbe. However, you will stop at the Uganda Equator crossing at Kayabwe for snapshots when standing in the northern and southern hemispheres at ago.
Also when at this place, it is a good place to buy a few souvenirs to take back home as a remembrance of your safari in Uganda. After, commence with your journey arriving at Entebbe Airport in preparation for your departure flight.
